First of all, what does appreciation means to you?

Appreciation means seeing all the good things even in the simplest things in life. No matter what we have, how tiny or huge it is, appreciating it is the key to happiness. A person who don?t know how to appreciate the things that he have or the person he is with will never be happy. Since it is so important, let me share with you some of the ways to improve our life with it.

1. Count Your Blessing

Make it a point and habit to set aside one or two minutes before sleep to ?think of all the people and things that have added values to you in your life. A simple routine like this will instantly set the positive tone for a better tomorrow and also assist ?you to focus on things to appreciate about your life. This is how you can make good use of these one or two minutes in a more meaningful way.

2. Make a Journal of What you are Thankful for

Adopt the habit of keeping a tiny notebook to record anything that come across your mind that you feel grateful for. Do not just only jot down major happenings like marriage, new born child or moving house, but also write down tiny things like a stranger opens the door for you, picking a coin on the floor or any others. When this routine becomes part of your life, you will be seeing and appreciating many things that you might not even noticed before.

3. Shift your Focus to What You Possess and not What you do not have

Have you ever feel that you are being short changed in life because you do not have a rich parents, no posh cars to show off or even not owning your dream house? One tends to easily forget that there are millions of people out there in the world that are being deprived of food and much worse off than yourself. Learn to shift your attention to what you have and start to appreciate them if you compared yourself to those that are less fortunate than you. You must change greed into gratitude.
