Job Description

The PR and Communications Officer will act as a business partner to the company and is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of public relations and communication activities across the group aimed at enabling the company to:

  • Generate new business (applications)
  • Increase its presence in its markets (clients, investors, media, and staff)
  • Build, maintain and manage its brand
  • Be positioned as the leader in the growth finance sector in all its markets and target audiences

The position is expected to support the generation of applications and the development of a strong positioning in the market place for the company. This is in support of our mission to create sustainable wealth, employment and economic growth through the development of successful small and medium enterprises, while generating attractive returns for all stakeholders.

The PR and communications officer is required to develop and continually monitor the company?s communication strategy in line with overall Group strategy and implement this in each office with appropriate policies and procedures. The position is responsible for the management of the company?s MENA portion website and its content, leading its long-term research, planning and implementation to ensure it continues to achieve its objectives.

The position will oversee and contribute to the production and promotion of Company/ Growth Finance advocacy and information material, such as fact sheets, leaflets, brochures, annual reports, flyers and undertake programme/ advocacy oriented research. She will publish internal and external newsletters as well as create/ commission any marketing material needed for internal or external campaigns. The position will represent the Company at industry events and serve as the first point of contact for media.

Responsibilities

Communication strategy and development

  • Maintain an overview of internal and external information needs, develop/ refine the company?s communication strategy and enhance communication
  • Support communication through developing and making use of new communication strategies and technology, including enhancing the company?s brand through relevant social media
  • Develop communications policies and procedures
  • To develop, implement and maintain a ?house style? in all written communications
  • To develop and maintain a photo library and client success stories for use across a range of communications forms

Publications and research

  • Oversee and contribute to the production and promotion of Company/ Growth Finance advocacy and information material, such as fact sheets, leaflets, brochures, annual reports, flyers, etc.
  • Contribute to or undertake programme/ advocacy oriented research and campaigns to support Company deal origination
  • Liaison with contributors to research and publications both within the company as well as with external professionals, editors, etc.
  • Grow and maintain an up to date client and intermediary database centrally
  • Publish company e-newsletter

Internal communication

  • Manage and collate weekly group communication
  • Design, research, write and distribute a quarterly staff newsletter.
  • Support entrenchment of company values through all internal communication platforms, in particular Share Point

Networking and events

  • Liaise with investors and other stakeholders on Company/ growth finance campaign and advocacy related issues
  • To represent company at internal and external events as required
  • To contribute to planning of and arrangements for company events

Media relations/ Campaigning

  • Manage international and local media relations
  • Draft/edit press releases and promotional adverts
  • Interact with company offices on media interventions and media related support
  • Design and undertake specific campaigns and advocacy interventions
  • Building dialogue with journalists
  • Create a bank of press clippings to track company?s presence in the media

Marketing support

  • Provide communication and marketing support for the company?s local offices, investors and others
  • Manage, execute or quality-check the design of internal and external marketing materials for each office
  • To implement and maintain strong company visual branding consistent across regional operations

Desired Skills & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • B degree or equivalent qualification in Media, Public Relations or
  • Communications

Minimum Experience

  • 6 years within the PR and communications environment, preferably in the financial services or services sectors with a regional operating perspective.

Technical Competencies Required

  • Microsoft Office
  • Design software
  • Fluent in Arabic and English
