RIVERBEND GOLFER WINS, ADVANCES TO VHSL GIRLS STATE TOURNAMENT

GOLF
NORTHWEST REGION GIRLS TOURNAMENT
Riverbend junior Megan Frederick shot a 6-over-par 76 Monday to win the Northwest Region girls golf qualifier in Dulles.
Frederick topped a field of over 30 golfers at the 1757 Golf Club and advanced to next week?s VHSL state championship at Laurel Hills Golf Club in Lorton. Also qualifying were runner-up Shannon Ciccerello of Brooke Point (78) and Maria Sylvia of Massaponax (seventh, 87).

VOLLEYBALL
COURTLAND 3, EASTERN VIEW 0
Anna Gallup had eight kills, nine digs, and four blocks in the Cougars? 25?10, 25?11, and 25?17 Battlefield District victory.
Josie Till added six kills and Marisol Gonzalez five for Courtland (14?5, 10?0). Bianca Rumbaugh had 27 assists and five digs.
Courtland visits Chancellor Tuesday.

NORTH STAFFORD 3, BRENTSVILLE 0
Kastlee Ashton had three aces and three kills, and Tiffany Barrett totaled 12 kills to help visiting North Stafford get a 25?23, 25?17, 25?17 nondistrict win.
Christine Jackson added seven kills and seven blocks, and Abby Rosa had 10 kills for the Wolverines (11?7), who entertain Colonial Forge on Thursday.

CHANCELLOR 3, CAROLINE 0
Kassie Moeller had 16 digs and four kills, and Shea Sullivan slammed 16 kills to lead homestanding Chancellor to a 25?12, 25?20, 25?22 Battlefield District win.
Laura Woods chipped in three assists for the Chargers (9?10, 8?2), who host first-place Courtland tonight.

SPOTSYLVANIA 3, JAMES MONROE 0
Katie Graham had 11 kills and four digs, and Calli Stott provided four kills, two digs and two aces for Spotsylvania in a 25?12, 25?13, 25?13 Battlefield District win.
Courtney Chmielewski added six kills and Taylor Sale two kills and three aces for the Knights (8?7, 8?2), who visit King George tonight.

FIELD HOCKEY
RIVERBEND 2, MASSAPONAX 1
Riverbend got goals from Haley McMahon and Lauren Liberman, and two assists from Haley Kilgore to hand visiting Massaponax a 2?1 Commonwealth District field hockey defeat on Monday.
Kenzie Raines scored late in the second half for the Panthers.
Goalie Sophie Boothby registered 11 saves and Avery Warner led the midfield for the Bears (5?9), who host Albemarle today.

KING GEORGE 5, COURTLAND 2
Mia Meyer and Meghan Yanchulis each scored twice to help homestanding King George get a Battlefield District win.
Emily Zaluzney scored twice for the Cougars.
Shelby King added a goal and an assist for the Foxes (9?4 district), who entertain James Monroe on Wednesday.
